The Early Years (1943-1967)
Beta Rho Chapter was first chartered during the 1942-43 academic year at West Virginia University. Originally, the organization was known as the first and oldest international professional commerce fraternity. In its first year, the chapter spent its energies towards the establishment and strengthening of the organization. In its initial year of service, Beta Rho had 22 members.
From 1950 to 1959, the chapters purpose was to promote the interests of commerce and for the mutual helpfulness of its members both while in college and later in professional life. Activities of the fraternity included:
In addition, the chapter prepared the Placement Booklet of College of Commerce Graduating Seniors, which was sent to over 150 firms nationwide. From 1951-1956, Beta Rho maintained the highest scholarship membership requirements of the eighty chapters nationwide. In addition, on the basis of an efficiency contest by which the chapters were rated, WVU had maintained a perfect score.
The Recent Years (1998-present)
Beta Rho was re-chartered on April 18, 1998 after a thirty year absence at West Virginia University. Today, our chapter boasts 101 active members that strive to uphold the ideals of Alpha Kappa Psi. Current activities of the fraternity include:

- Speakers on economics and business for students and the general public
- Industrial tours
- Research projects
- Services to the school
- Publication of news bulletins and newsletters
- Awarding a scholarship key to the senior student in the College with the highest scholastic average
- Social functions for its members
In addition, the chapter prepared the Placement Booklet of College of Commerce Graduating Seniors, which was sent to over 150 firms nationwide.
